Specialist Printing Equipment and Materials (Offences) Act 2015
The MPS and the Home Office with support from the Project Genesius working group and membership have successfully changed the law in England and Wales to incorporate new offences of ‘knowingly supplying’ equipment and materials for unlawful purposes.
- The new Act reaches out to manufacturers, resellers, agents, distributors and electronic market places of both new and used equipment and materials.
- This will allow prosecution of those organisations or individuals that fail to adopt ‘KYC’ (Know Your Customer)
- Companies must maintain adequate records of their transactions for new and used equipment and materials both in the UK and overseas.
- Companies must seek to demonstrate that they have exercised ‘due diligence’ before supplying equipment and materials.
The new Act comes into force on the 26th May 2015
